Job summary

Wiregrass is seeking a dependable Oiler/Grease man to perform lubrication, preventive maintenance, and light cleaning on vehicles and equipment. You will operate grease guns safely, inspect fluid levels, and ensure proper maintenance while adhering to safety and environmental rules.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of grease/lube experience, a valid driving record, and can work in a physically demanding environment with varying temperatures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Grease man/Lube man for all types of equipment.
  • Must have a safe driving record within Company MVR policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lubricate moving parts and grease units as needed.
  • Inspect fluid levels in steering gears, transmissions, and axles.
  • Drain old oil and refill crankcase with new lubricant.
  • Replace oil and air filters and wash/clean equipment.

Job description

Summary:

The Oiler/Grease man is responsible for changing oil, greasing and preventive maintenance and washing/cleaning of vehicles and equipment. Will perform work and operate equipment in a safe manner and adhere to all safety and environmental rules.


Primary duties:


  • Making sure moving parts are lubricated if needed.

  • Injecting grease into units, such as springs, universal joints and steering knuckles, using hand-or compressed air-powered grease gun.

  • Inspecting fluid level of steering gears, power steering reservoirs, transmissions differentials, rear axle housings and shackles.

  • Checking air pressure of tires, adding water to the radiator, testing the battery, replacing oil and air filters, and spraying springs with lubricant.

  • Draining oil and refilling crankcase with right amount of new lubricant.

  • General clean-up of equipment

  • Ensure all tools are stored properly at the end of each shift.

  • Responsible for notifying department lead of any potential safety or equipment issues immediately.

  • Responsible for following processes and procedures correctly.

  • Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, shoes, and personnel protective equipment.

  • Must have the ability to listen, comprehend directives, inquiries and/or comments, and decipher intent and meaning.

  • Must be reliable, responsible and dependable.


Physical Demands:


  • Lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 100lbs (+-50%) of the time

  • Standing/walking/climbing (+-50%) of the time

  • Occasional sitting in a normal position for an extended time (+-50%) of the time

  • Frequent reaching/handling/feeling (+-70%) of the time

  • Frequent use of finger dexterity (+70%) of the time.


Working Conditions:


  • Noise level is moderate to high.

  • Work environment is not always environmentally controlled, exposed to extreme heat and cold.


Education:


  • Ideal candidate should have high school diploma or equivalent.


Experience:


  • Ideal candidate should have minimum of (2) years’ work experience as Grease man/Lube man for all types of equipment. Must have a safe driving record within Company MVR policy guidelines.

  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

  • The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  • The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.

  • The ability to see details at a distance and close range.

  • The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object

  • The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.

  • The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
