Job summary

Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc. is seeking an Oiler/Grease Man to perform lubrication, preventive maintenance and cleaning of heavy equipment. The role requires safe operation of machinery and strict compliance with safety and environmental rules.

Qualifications

  • Safe driving record within company policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lubricate moving parts and inject grease into units as needed.
  • Inspect and top up fluid levels and replace filters.
  • Test batteries, check air pressure, and wash/clean equipment.
  • Update maintenance records daily and keep tools organized.
  • Notify supervisor of any safety or equipment issues immediately.

Oiler/Grease Man

Summary

The Oiler/Grease man is responsible for changing oil, greasing and preventive maintenance and washing/cleaning of vehicles and equipment. Will perform work and operate equipment in a safe manner and adhere to all safety and environmental rules.

Primary Duties
  • Making sure moving parts are lubricated if needed.
  • Injecting grease into units, such as springs, universal joints and steering knuckles, using hand-or compressed air-powered grease gun.
  • Inspecting fluid level of steering gears, power steering reservoirs, transmissions differentials, rear axle housings and shackles.
  • Checking air pressure of tires, adding water to the radiator, testing the battery, replacing oil and air filters, and spraying springs with lubricant.
  • Draining oil and refilling crankcase with right amount of new lubricant.
  • Update maintenance records daily
  • General clean-up of equipment
  • Ensure all tools are stored properly at the end of each shift.
  • Responsible for notifying department lead of any potential safety or equipment issues immediately.
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures correctly.
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, shoes, and personnel protective equipment.

Physical Demands
  • Lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 100lbs (+-50%) of the time
  • Standing/walking/climbing (+-50%) of the time
  • Occasional sitting in a normal position for an extended time (+-50%) of the time
  • Frequent reaching/handling/feeling (+-70%) of the time
  • Frequent use of finger dexterity (+70%) of the time.
Working Conditions
  • Noise level is moderate to high.
  • Work environment is not always environmentally controlled, exposed to extreme heat and cold.
Education
  • Ideal candidate should have high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • Ideal candidate should have minimum of (2) years’ work experience as Grease man/Lube man for all types of equipment. Must have a safe driving record within Company MVR policy guidelines.

  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • The ability to see details at a distance and close range.
  • The ability to time your movements or the movement of a piece of equipment in anticipation of changes in the speed and/or direction of a moving object
  • The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • The ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
