Job description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for changing oil, greasing and preventive maintenance and washing/cleaning of vehicles and equipment. Will perform work and operate equipment in a safe manner and adhere to all safety and environmental rules.

Primary duties
  • Making sure moving parts are lubricated if needed.
  • Injecting grease into units, such as springs, universal joints and steering knuckles, using hand-or compressed air-powered grease gun.
  • Inspecting fluid level of steering gears, power steering reservoirs, transmissions differentials, rear axle housings and shackles.
  • Checking air pressure of tires, adding water to the radiator, testing the battery, replacing oil and air filters, and spraying springs with lubricant.
  • Draining oil and refilling crankcase with right amount of new lubricant.
  • General clean-up of equipment
  • Ensure all tools are stored properly at the end of each shift.
  • Responsible for notifying department lead of any potential safety or equipment issues immediately.
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures correctly.
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, shoes, and personnel protective equipment.

  • All other duties as assigned or required.
  • Must have the ability to acquire understanding and absorb new information (a quick study).
  • Must have the ability to work in a team setting and establish collaborative peer relationship.
  • Must have the ability to detect errors, omissions, miscalculations, and non-compliance against requirements.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, schedule work in efficient and productive manner. Ability to focus on key priority, juggles multiple projects, and manages time effectively.
  • Must have the ability to maintain poise and composure under heavy pressure from supervisors and/or company officers.
  • Must have the ability to adapt and adjust quickly to changing priorities or work demands without adverse impact on performance or team dynamics.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communication.
  • Must have the ability to listen, comprehend directives, inquiries and/or comments, and decipher intent and meaning.
  • Must have the ability to exhibit a can-do attitude.
  • Must be reliable, responsible and dependable.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 100lbs (+-50%) of the time
  • Standing/walking/climbing (+-50%) of the time
  • Occasional sitting in a normal position for an extended time (+-50%) of the time
  • Frequent reaching/handling/feeling (+-70%) of the time
  • Frequent use of finger dexterity (+70%) of the time.
Working Conditions
  • Noise level is moderate to high.
  • Work environment is not always environmentally controlled, exposed to extreme heat and cold.
Education
  • Ideal candidate should have high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • Ideal candidate should have minimum of (2) years of work experience as Grease person /Lube person for all types of equipment. Must have a safe driving record within Company MVR policy guidelines.
