Job summary

Chord Energy seeks a Senior Financial Analyst in Houston to bolster its BD and Strategic Planning efforts. You will analyze upstream deals, including asset acquisitions, corporate mergers, and divestitures, and provide pro forma impacts for both operated and nonoperated opportunities.

Collaboration with senior management across Midstream, NonOp, New Ventures, and Transformation will shape the company's strategic direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
• 1 year investment banking or 4–5 years finance experience, preferably in oil and gas.
• Ability to build and maintain complex financial models.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization and external advisors.
• Strong writing, analytical and presentation skills.
• Expert MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word user.

Responsibilities

• Support merger, acquisition, and divestiture efforts by preparing strategic, economic, and valuation analyses (DCF, NAV, LBO, merger accretion/dilution, comps).
• Use relative and absolute valuation methodologies to evaluate deal economics and tradeoffs.
• Quantify downside risks and upside opportunities to assess risk/reward and impact to company value.
• Collaborate with engineers, geologists, land, commercial teams and executives in deal processes.
• Scan public and proprietary data sources for operating metrics for M&A valuation in North American basins.
• Provide modeling and strategic support to NonOp team for strategy formation and deal evaluation.
• Work with Marketing/Midstream to assess development infra and marketing contracts.
• Support New Ventures and Business Transformation with analysis of strategic initiatives.
