Job summary

FTS Houston is seeking a Project Instrumentation Engineer for a direct hire position. The role provides engineering support for new projects, including instrumentation selection, valves sizing, P&ID development, equipment and line sizing, instrument data sheets, and economic analysis.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent Engineering.
• 5+ years of Mechanical, Packaging, Process, Applications, or Instrumentation Engineering; 7+ years preferred.
• Understanding of oil & gas process industry principles and calculations.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across engineering disciplines.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work alone or in a team.
• Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.
• Ability to size and select control valves and PSV’s.
• Experience specifying instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters.
• Proficiency with process simulation software; BR&E Promax preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
• Limited travel (<5%).

Responsibilities

• Conceptual engineering and design of oil and gas equipment and instrumentation.
• Provide project management with a clearly defined scope of work.
• Evaluate, develop, model, and optimize ideas for capital projects.
• Engage with stakeholders, operations, and vendors to define scope.
• Report technical findings to aid decision making.
• Coordinate with external engineering service providers as needed.
• Develop proficiency in process simulation and instrument design software.
