Job summary

Diamondback Energy in Midland, TX is offering an Engineering Intern position for a 12-week summer program (May–August 2027).

You will work on an assigned engineering project, guided by a mentor, and gain exposure to facilities, production, drilling, completions, and reservoir engineering. You will analyze well data and support field operations, with a final presentation to management.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a similar discipline
• Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
• Must be willing to work in Midland, TX for the duration of the internship
• Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester

Responsibilities

• Work on an assigned, individual engineering project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback’s upper management
• Develop engineering skills under the supervision and guidance of an assigned, experienced mentor
• Work directly with other engineers and other disciplines to experience what working in an Oil & Gas Exploration and Production company is like
• Analyze well production data, decline curves, and pressure trends to support production forecasting and identify underperforming wells
• Support drilling and completions engineering work, including offset well reviews, cost tracking, and post-job performance analysis
• Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and active completions spread
• Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Midland-Odessa community
