Job summary

Whitley Penn is seeking an Energy-AC Associate in Dallas to support oil and gas accounting, with a focus on AP/AR, monthly close, and revenue-related tasks. This in-office role requires strong Excel skills, CPA eligibility preferred, and an eagerness to learn within a high-growth firm.

You will participate in client engagements, coordinate monthly accounting processes, and assist external audits while developing a broad understanding of the energy industry and firm capabilities.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of Oil & Gas accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
• Basic knowledge of GAAP/GAAS related to Oil & Gas accounting.
• Familiarity with ARO, Depletion, Impairment calculations.

Responsibilities

• Participate in client engagements and learn the engagement process.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare daily receipts and monthly revenue sheets.
• Record monthly transactions accurately and timely.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting cycles and prepare financial statements.
• Support external audit activities and gather information as needed.
• Communicate with clients to build trust-based relationships.
