Job summary

Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. is seeking an Offshore Rigger to safely prepare, handle, move, and install equipment on offshore construction vessels.

The role requires expertise in rigging, lifting operations, crane signals, load control, and offshore safety procedures. You will work with crane operators, construction crews, and project supervisors to ensure lifting plans are followed and work is performed without incidents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years offshore rigging experience as back deck rigger on offshore construction vessel or anchor handling vessel.
• Offshore Rigger certification or recognized rigging qualification.
• Current (or able to obtain) offshore survival certification (BOSIET/FOET or equivalent).
• Current (or able to obtain) medical certification for offshore work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble and select rigging gear (slings, shackles, hooks, spreader bars, lifting beams).
• Calculate load weights, CG, sling angles, and lifting capacities.
• Prepare loads for crane lifts and oversee safe load handling offshore.
• Direct crane operators using hand signals and radio communications.
• Control suspended loads with tag lines and load management techniques.
• Participate in heavy lift, subsea deployment, jacket and topside construction activities.
• Assist offshore construction, installation and decommissioning projects.
• Coordinate with supervisors to ensure lifting plans are followed.
• Perform pre-use inspections and maintain rigging registers and records.
• Follow safety requirements and participate in JSA and toolbox talks.
