Job Description

The Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS) prides itself in being a group of dedicated individuals working together to administer the retirement benefits of the public employees in the state of Nebraska.

This position works in NPERS' Data Services area and reviews, processes, and maintains complex records and written materials, selecting and using varied clerical procedures (such as scanning, data entry, sorting/filing correspondence and documents, and reviewing information for accuracy and completeness). They perform diverse office/clerical support. This person may provide procedural guidance and technical advice to other support or agency employees, and they perform related work as assigned.

Work Schedule: M-F, 7:30 a.m. - 4:0 p.m.

Hiring Rate: $15.338

Range: $15.338 - $22.610

The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.

Examples of Work
  • Pick up, open, sort, date stamp, and distribute incoming mail.
  • Research incoming mail for membership and identification to retirement plan.
  • Prepare, scan, and index files into imaging system.
  • Process outgoing mail by weight to determine postage.
  • Bundle and prepare proper postage authorization forms for pickup by the state mail personnel.
  • Prepare, review, and retrieve documents and data using networked desktop personal computer.
  • Provide assistance to other members of the Data Services team, and the agency, for special projects or requests for help.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent, post-secondary education, and who demonstrate knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite products.

Other

Results of State Personnel typing, and data entry testing may be considered in the agency's selection process.

  • The methods of filing, record keeping, bookkeeping, and mailing.

Ability to:
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
