Job summary

The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs (ODVA) is seeking an Office Specialist 2‑ Claims Data Entry Specialist to support the Appeals and Special Advocacy Division. This role handles claims processing, data entry, and quality assurance while coordinating with County and Tribal Veteran Service Offices.

Qualifications

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; or an associate degree in any field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated professional, thoughtful, and effective communication and customer service skills, with a commitment to providing responsive support.
  • Proven ability to accurately process high-volume, detail-oriented work while meeting strict deadlines, managing shifting priorities, and maintaining strong organizational standards in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding, data entry, and maintaining accurate records, with the ability to interpret, apply, and adhere to written policies, procedures, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) and experience using VetraSpec, VBMS, or similar case management systems.

What You Will Do

What Are We Looking For?

Office Specialist 2 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; or an associate degree in any field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of a fingerprint‑based criminal history background check through the Oregon LEDS and National NCIC systems.
  • Valid Oregon or Washington State driver’s license and ongoing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
Working Conditions

Work will be based out of ODVA’s Salem Office; hybrid work schedule is eligible and will be coordinated with the hiring manager. ODVA will provide necessary hardware (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and cell phone) for home work. Remote work is evaluated periodically and may be adjusted at any time to meet business needs.

The salary listed is the non‑PERS qualifying salary range; if the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the range will reflect an additional 6.95% (6% for PERS and 0.95% for payroll taxes).
