Job Description

LOCATION: Women and Babies Hospital

HOURS: Monday-Friday, varying shifts doing 10 hour days from 7:30am-5:30pm. Four 10 hour days. No weekends, no holidays, no on-call, no evenings/nights.

POSITION SUMMARY: Facilitates patient care in an office setting by performing patient assessments, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions, through patient/provider office visits, nurse visits, and telephone triage. Collaborates with Physician and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to provide patient care and assumes responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Functions as an independent and interdependent member of the health care team in support of the care needs of the surgical patient population.
  • Performs patient assessments, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions, through patient/provider office visits, nurse visits, and telephone triage. Collects and manages comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation, and relays medical information to physician or APP.
  • Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis or issues. Formulates age-appropriate and culturally and ethically sensitive care plans.
  • Reviews and analyzes laboratory and diagnostic results prior to physicians and APPs, using critical thinking when communicating results with providers and discussing with patients.
  • Implements care knowledgeably and coordinates patient care across disciplines and caregivers.
  • Provides leadership by communicating standards of care and supporting team members.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to our values of privacy, quality, respect, service, and teamwork.
  • Assigns, delegates, and intervenes as appropriate to ensure care plans are followed, continuity maintained, and outcomes achieved.
  • Educates patients and families about health practices, treatments, medications, and procedures.
  • Facilitates invasive procedure education, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Enhances nursing practices quality and effectiveness, utilizing technology appropriately.
  • Considers safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact in planning and delivering nursing services.

Secondary duties include managing changing situations, participating in process improvements, completing mandatory training, maintaining safety, developing skills, supervising peers, participating in on-call duties, and other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing
  • CPR Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support
  • Occasional regional travel to multiple sites is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Inpatient or Outpatient General and Vascular surgery experience/knowledge
