Job summary

Washingtonian Magazine in Washington, DC seeks an Office Manager & Executive Assistant to support the CEO and oversee the day-to-day functions of the office. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with 2-3 days per week in the DC office and a flexible start date. You will manage the CEO's calendar, coordinate travel, oversee facilities, and support events while handling

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of executive support and/or office management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business productivity tools.
  • A proactive, service-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the CEO's complex calendar, coordinating internal and external meetings and ensuring the right priorities are protected.
  • Oversee daily office functions, including facilities, supplies, shared workspaces, mail, and employee support.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with building management and external service providers.
  • Coordinate domestic and international executive travel, including flights, hotels, ground transportation, and detailed itineraries.
  • Provide support with personal matters as needed, including personal travel coordination and other tasks that enable the CEO to manage both professional and personal priorities effectively.
  • Provide high-level administrative support while handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Support company events— providing on-site support to the CEO at high-profile events, while also working closely with the events team on logistics, guest experience, and execution
  • Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Job description

The Office Manager & Executive Assistant provides comprehensive support to the CEO of Washingtonian Magazine and oversees the day-to-day functions of the office. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. This is a permanent, dedicated role — not a pathway to editorial or other departments — and is best suited to someone who takes genuine pride in executive support and office management as a career.

Schedule & Flexibility
  • The role rarely exceeds 40 hours per week — no crazy hours, and genuine work-life balance.
  • Hybrid schedule with 2-3 days per week in our Washington, DC office, with real day-to-day flexibility.
  • Start date is flexible

Salary range

$50k to $70k
