Washingtonian, the area’s award-winning monthly lifestyle publication, is seeking a creative, organized, and proactive Manager, Marketing & Events to join our team.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Events, this position supports the planning, marketing, and execution of more than 20 signature events. Each Manager serves as the primary lead for up to six events annually while supporting the broader Washingtonian events calendar as part of a collaborative team. This position is hybrid and will be expected to be in the office every week.

Responsibilities Include:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Events, this position supports the planning, marketing, and execution of more than 20 signature events. Each Manager serves as the primary lead for up to six events annually while supporting the broader Washingtonian events calendar as part of a collaborative team. This position is hybrid and will be expected to be in the office every week.

  • Produce Washingtonian events and related collateral in alignment with Washingtonian and sponsor brand standards, leading select events from ideation through execution.
  • Manage event communications, including invitations, reminders, and post-event follow-up through RSVPify and HubSpot.
  • Develop and execute integrated event marketing campaigns across print, email, digital, and social media, including post-event recaps and reporting.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop branded event proposals and fulfill sponsor activations and contractual deliverables.
  • Research, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors, venues, sponsors, influencers, nonprofit partners, and other community stakeholders.
  • Assist in managing event budgets, tracking expenses, reconciling invoices, and cultivating in‑kind partnerships.
  • Coordinate cross-functional communication with leadership and internal teams to ensure successful event planning and execution.
  • Supervise fellows, interns, and volunteers while serving as a key member of the onsite event production team.
  • Own the Washingtonian Events Instagram, driving content strategy, audience growth, and engagement.
  • Partner with the Marketing Graphic Designer to develop compelling event and social media marketing materials.
  • Work occasional evenings and weekends as required by the event schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of Washingtonian events.
Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in event production, experiential marketing, event management, or a related field; experience producing events in the DMV area is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with social media platforms, particularly Instagram and TikTok, with a focus on strategy and growth.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to remain calm, resourceful, and professional under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the confidence to communicate effectively with sponsors, executives, VIP guests, vendors, partners, and internal team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience corresponding with clients and supporting sponsored events.
  • Creative thinking and sound judgment, with the ability to adapt quickly to feedback and evolving event needs.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; familiarity with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, HubSpot, RSVPify, Asana, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends, based on event schedules.
Salary:

$60,000–$65,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
