JOB SUMMARYSupport the transportation department by coordinating logistics, maintaining records, and ensuring efficient communication between internal teams and external partners.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMaintain truck, barge and vessel freight bill processingCreate truck, railcar, barge and vessel freight documentationSchedule claims, tracing and billingTrack fuel surchargeSet up new carrier formsReport to fleetFile both electronic and physical paperworkAid with maintaining logistics planning tasks.Track shipments across multiple channelsPerforms other tasks, duties or assignments as may be assigned by manager from time to time.Analyzes markets and identifies changes within the freight industry to optimize lane capacity, margins.Market opportunities for the company.Negotiates pricing with carriers.Responsible for carrier development to broker more efficient loads.Works collaboratively with billing team to address concerns to ensure proper customer invoicing.Communicates effectively with internal departments regarding capacity and back-haul coverage.Manages and monitors multiple systems to ensure adequate supply of capacity, on-time performance and problem resolution challenges are addressed and communicated timely.Assesses customer and carrier performance and provides feedback to management team.Continuously improves service levels through ongoing recommendations for process improvements.POSITION REQUIREMENTSAbility to read and comprehend instructions.Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to present information in one-on-one and group situations.Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volumes.Ability to apply math concepts.Ability to operate a computer on an above average level.Ability to apply problem-solving and common sense to various situations.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
