Job Details: Job Location: Department of Public Works - Dearborn, MI 48120, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $21.66 Hourly, CLASS SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing a variety of standard clerical and administrative tasks in support of an assigned department. Responsibilities may include preparing documents; performing standard office tasks; cash-handling; and providing customer service . May supervise and/or lead part-time staff. May handle confidential information.
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
- Prepares and provides documents related to an assigned area, including but not limited to: preparing financial transactions,contracts, and work orders; generating reports; and/or preparing related documents.
- Performs standard office tasks, including but not limited to: answering phones; filing; reviewing information for accuracy; updating documents; handling mail; performing data entry; compiling information and agendas; and/or maintaining department materials.
- Creates schedules for an assigned area, including: reviewing and approving staff time cards; prioritizing and assigning work; maintaining calendars; creating meeting schedules; and performing related tasks.
- Reviews and/or reconciles financial and related documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Reviews and verifies program related information; tracks and identifies information based on defined procedures.
- Provides customer service, including but not limited to: cash-handling; responding to various customer issues and inquiries; describing programs to customers or vendors; providing required documents to customers; and/or directing customer questions to appropriate staff.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

Qualifications: TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree; or, High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 2 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Occupancy Specialist Certificates for Public Housing or Section 8 Program (Housing department only)
KNOWLEDGE:
- Customer service principles;

- Computers and related office equipment;
- Recordkeeping principles.
