Job summary

Fortra is seeking an Offensive Security Training Content Developer to build and evolve our offensive security training portfolio. This hands-on role blends offensive security expertise, lab development, and clear content creation to educate students and practitioners.

You will maintain Red Team Operations and Cobalt Strike training, design new courses and labs, develop assessments, and collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product teams to deliver practical, safe, and impactful training

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in offensive security, including red teaming, penetration testing, or security research.
• Understanding of red-team operations and adversary-simulation lifecycle across tactics like initial access, lateral movement, and post-exploitation.
• Practical experience with Cobalt Strike or comparable tooling; advanced tradecraft is a Plus.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows environments, Active Directory, and related telemetry.
• Ability to build and maintain realistic cybersecurity lab environments and automation pipelines.
• Experience scripting or programming (PowerShell, Python, C#, or C) for offensive security tasks.
• Ability to research topics, validate in labs, and turn findings into repeatable training content.
• Excellent technical writing and instructional design skills for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve Red Team Operations, Cobalt Strike, and related offensive security training content.
• Design and develop new courses, modules, hands-on exercises, assessments, and learning paths.
• Research modern adversary tactics, translating them into safe, realistic training scenarios.
• Create, document, test, and maintain practical lab environments – including supporting infrastructure, scripts, configurations, and resources – to ensure exercises are accurate, reproducible, reliable, and achieve learning outcomes.
• Write clear, structured technical learning materials, including lessons, walkthroughs, lab guides, reference documentation, quizzes, and exercises for varied experience levels.
• Collaborate with Zero-Point Security experts, Cobalt Strike engineers, and product teams to turn research into training.
• Gather and incorporate feedback from students and stakeholders to improve course quality.
• Help shape the training roadmap by identifying skills gaps and opportunities for new courses.
• Establish consistent standards for technical accuracy, lab design, terminology, and course structure.
• Produce demonstrations, videos, webinars, workshops, or blog posts when appropriate.
• Ensure all training involving offensive security capabilities is designed and presented responsibly.

Fortra’s Offensive Security portfolio brings together industry-leading adversary simulation technology, offensive security expertise, and hands-on training. Following the addition of Zero-Point Security to Fortra, we are expanding our training capabilities to help offensive security professionals develop practical, real-world skills across red teaming, adversary simulation, and penetration testing.

We are looking for an Offensive Security Training Content Developer to help build and evolve Fortra’s offensive security training portfolio. This is a hands-on technical role combining offensive security expertise, technical education, lab development, and content creation.

You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Zero-Point Security Red Team Operations courses, supporting and expanding Cobalt Strike training and certification content, and developing new courses around emerging offensive security techniques and Fortra technologies.

You should enjoy understanding offensive tradecraft in depth, explaining complex concepts clearly, and turning technical knowledge into practical exercises that allow students to learn by doing.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Maintain and continuously improve Red Team Operations, Cobalt Strike, and related offensive security training content, ensuring it reflects current tradecraft, product capabilities, and recommended operator practices.


• Design and develop new courses, modules, hands-on exercises, assessments, certifications, and learning paths for Fortra’s offensive security training portfolio.


• Research modern adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures, translating them into safe, realistic, and authorized training scenarios.


• Create, document, test, and maintain practical lab environments – including supporting infrastructure, scripts, configurations, and resources – to ensure exercises are accurate, reproducible, reliable, and achieve their intended learning outcomes.


• Write clear, structured technical learning materials, including lessons, walkthroughs, lab guides, reference documentation, quizzes, and exercises for audiences with varied experience levels.


• Collaborate with Zero-Point Security experts, Cobalt Strike engineers and researchers, product teams, and other stakeholders to turn research, tooling, and product capabilities into effective training.


• Gather and incorporate feedback from students, instructors, customers, support teams, and internal stakeholders to improve course quality and the overall learning experience.


• Help shape the training roadmap by identifying skills gaps, emerging techniques, new technologies, and opportunities for new courses or certifications.


• Establish consistent standards for technical accuracy, instructional quality, lab design, terminology, and course structure across the training portfolio.


• Produce supporting educational content – such as demonstrations, videos, webinars, workshops, blog posts, and presentations – when appropriate.


• Ensure all training involving offensive security capabilities is designed and presented responsibly for legitimate, authorized security testing and education.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong hands-on experience in offensive security, including red teaming, penetration testing, adversary simulation, security research, or related discipline.


• Strong understanding of modern red-team operations and adversary-simulation lifecycle, including common techniques across initial access, command and control, privilege escalation, credential access, lateral movement, persistence, and post-exploitation.


• Practical experience with Cobalt Strike or comparable command-and-control and adversary-simulation platforms; advanced Cobalt Strike tradecraft or extensibility experience is a plus.


• Strong working knowledge of Windows environments, Active Directory, and, ideally, Windows internals, endpoint controls, EDR, detection engineering, or defensive telemetry.


• Ability to build, troubleshoot, automate, and maintain realistic cybersecurity lab environments, including multi-host Active Directory environments; familiarity with virtualization, cloud infrastructure, containers, infrastructure-as-code, or automated provisioning is desirable.


• Experience with scripting or programming languages used in offensive security, such as PowerShell, Python, C#, or C, and comfort evaluating technical documentation, proof-of-concept code, security research, and offensive tooling.


• Ability to independently research a subject, validate it in a lab, and turn findings into repeatable, high-quality training content.


• Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and instructional design skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to audiences at different experience levels.


• Strong attention to detail when validating exercises, commands, code examples, instructions, and lab environments, along with experience managing technical content through structured documentation and version-control workflows.


• Experience developing or delivering cybersecurity education, such as courses, certifications, labs, CTFs, workshops, mentoring, conference presentations, or online training.


• Familiarity with learning management systems, assessment design, technical video production, or public-facing technical content is beneficial.


• Experience with other Fortra Offensive Security technologies, including Outflank Security Tooling or Core Impact, is a plus.


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with researchers, engineers, product teams, and subject matter experts.


• High ethical standards, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to responsible use of offensive security techniques.


• Active interest in offensive security research and continuous learning; experience using AI-assisted workflows for research, content development, labs, or quality assurance is beneficial.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of Red Team Operations I / CRTO, Red Team Operations II / Red Team Lead, Cobalt Strike training, or comparable advanced offensive security training.
