Job summary

ICON in Austin, TX is seeking an Electro-mechanical Systems Technician to build, assemble, modify, and test hardware from prototype to flight. You will work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, optical, and thermal/fluid systems under guidance of engineers to deliver high-reliability aerospace hardware.

The role emphasizes reading schematics, following detailed instructions, documenting work, and developing fixtures and tooling.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, torque wrenches, crimpers, cable tools).
• Basic computer skills such as Windows, G-suite, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal/fluid assembly of flight hardware, ground support equipment, and prototype systems.
• Assist in setup and test of these systems ranging from benchtop testing to system-level environmental testing (TVAC, vibe, EMI/EMC).
• Read, interpret, and execute work instructions from schematics and whiteboard concepts with engineer collaboration.
• Document work performed from assembly, integration, and test phases.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to suggest design and process improvements.
• Assist engineers in system troubleshooting, debugging, and reworking as needed.
• Design and implement fixtures, tooling, and low-level prototypes for development.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment and tools.
• Operate material handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Coordinate operations with other organizations within the company.
• Contribute to a safe, compliant work environment.
