Job summary

ICON in Austin, TX seeks an Electro-mechanical Systems Technician to build, assemble, modify, and test hardware from prototype to flight-ready systems. You will work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal/fluid subsystems under close engineering supervision to deliver high-reliability aerospace hardware.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, machine integration, or related field.
• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, torque wrenches, crimpers, cable tools).
• Basic computer skills such as Windows, G-suite, etc.
• Ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Physical effort up to 50 lb unassisted.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal/fluid assembly of flight hardware, ground support equipment, and prototype systems.
• Assist in setup and test of systems from benchtop testing to system-level environmental testing (TVAC, vibe, EMI/EMC).
• Read and execute work instructions from schematics to whiteboard concepts.
• Document work performed from assembly to test.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to suggest design/manufacturing improvements.
• Assist engineers in troubleshooting, debugging, and reworking as needed.
• Design and implement fixtures, tooling and low-level prototypes for development.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment and tools.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes as required.
• Coordinate with facilities and other groups within the company.
• Contribute to a safe, compliant work environment.
