Job summary

Trimble Inc. is seeking a Control System Engineer to design automatic motion control algorithms for off-highway industrial machinery. You will develop core control laws in MATLAB/Simulink, validate them with simulations and on-machine testing, and contribute to productization and data-driven validation.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a Master’s/PhD preferred, and travel up to 10%. Located in Westminster, CO, onsite with collaboration across engineering domains.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, GNC, or related field (preferred).
• Strong foundation in classical and modern control theory with extensive MATLAB/Simulink development experience.
• Hands-on experience with automatic control of off-highway industrial machinery.
• Experience in testing, verification, validation, and productization of algorithms, including plant simulation tools.
• Data acquisition, processing, and analytics to support testing and validation of developed control systems.
• Familiarity with requirements decomposition and management tools.
• Travel up to 10% annually.

Responsibilities

• System Architecture & Requirements: Architect positioning and control systems with domain teams.
• Algorithm Design & Model-Based Design (MBD): Develop core control laws using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Vehicle Dynamics Modeling: Create and validate non-linear vehicle dynamics plant models.
• System & Software Architecture: Define robust architectures and maintainable code/models.
• Validation & Physical Testing: Validate algorithms via SIL/HIL and on-machine tests.
• Quality Assurance: Write test cases mapped to control requirements.
• Development Tooling: Create data processing tools for development and deployment.
