Ultimate Staffing's aerospace manufacturing client in Macomb County seeks an OD Grinder for immediate hire on the 2nd shift. Schedule is 50-55 hours/week, direct hire, compensation $28-32/hour. Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and specs
• Set up and operate CNC OD/ID grinding equipment on Studer machines
• Maintain tolerances as printed; adjust to specifications
• Grind spline shafts and gears to tight tolerances (.0001"-.0005")
• Document SPC data and participate in operator program
• Perform in-process and final inspections with precision gauges

Job description

Our aerospace manufacturing client in Macomb County has an immediate opening for an OD Grinder. This is a DIRECT HIRE role, 2nd shift working 50-55 hours/week, $28-32/hour

OD Grinder Responsibilities:

• Reads, interprets and follows blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications
• Set up and and operate CNC OD and ID grind equipment with minimal supervision on a Studer grinding machine.
• Make adjustments as required to maintain print specifications
• Grind of spline shafts and aircraft gears holding tolerances of .0001" - .0005"
• Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and participate in certified operator program.
• Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gages and amps
• Perform in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges.
• Perform operator maintenance.
• Perform the required measurements to assure product quality
• Notify your Leader of all nonconforming product
• Other duties as assigned

OD Grinder Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Working knowledge of Inspection Devices and Instruments
• Ability to translate prints along with understanding of GD&T
• Experience using Studer OD Grinder, FANUC controls using G code, preferably in an aerospace/defense manufacturer or other industry requiring extremely tight tolerances
• Experience with Cylindrical grinding machines
• Proficiency in the use of a wide variety of precision measuring tools are required.
• Ability to utilize visual comparator and Precision Gear Check Equipment
