Job summary

GWS Tool Group in Surprise, AZ is seeking an OD Grinder to produce premium, high-precision carbide cutting tools. You will operate and program CNC grinders, set up offsets, and ensure tools meet tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, inspecting finished tools with metrology tools, and communicating quality issues to programmers and the General Manager. A high school diploma is required; machining certification is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Machining certification ideal but not required.
• Knowledge of cutters, inserts and feeds/speeds preferred but not required.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
• Previous CNC operator experience preferred but not required.
• Programming experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and offsets as required.
• Read blueprints accurately.
• Inspect tools for defects using quality control tools.
• Program and operate the CNC machine.
• Evaluate finished product quality via visuals and measurement tools.
• Communicate quality issues to programmers and General Manager.
• Daily machinery checks to ensure functionality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

The OD Grinder willbe responsible forproducing premium quality, highprecision carbidecutting tools using specific tool grinding machines and programs.Facilitates andoperatesCNC machines by programming, setup,operatingthe CNC machine, inspecting tools for visibleflawsand correcting quality issues to ensure a consistent product.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the setup and offsets asrequired.

• Ability to accurately read blueprints.

• Inspect tools for defects usingquality controltools.

• Responsible foraccurateprogramming and machine operation.

• Consistently evaluates the quality of the finished product coming off the CNC machine through visual inspection and the use of measurement tools.

• Communicatesquality issues to programmers and/or General Manager.

• Check machinery on a daily basis to ensure functionality.

• Other dutiesassigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

• Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is ideal but notrequired.

• Awell roundedknowledge of cutters, inserts and feeds/speeds is preferred but notrequired.

• Previousmanufacturing experience is preferred but notrequired.

• PreviousCNC Operator experience is preferred but notrequired.

• Programming experience is preferred but notrequired.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong math skillsrequiredto performday to dayoperations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work in a fast pacedmanufacturing environment.
