Job summary

Ultimate Staffing is seeking an OD Grinder for a DIRECT HIRE, 2nd shift position in Macomb County. The role offers 50–55 hours per week at $28–$36 per hour, with potential to earn $90k+ annually. The ideal candidate will read blueprints, operate Studer CNC OD/ID grinders, and maintain tight tolerances.

Responsibilities include performing precision grinding, documenting SPC data, and ensuring print specifications are met. Experience with GD&T, micrometers, and inspection tools is required.

Qualifications

• Reads, interprets and follows blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications.
• Experience with Studer OD Grinder and FANUC controls using G-code.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC OD/ID grinding equipment on a Studer machine.
• Maintain print specifications and adjust as needed.
• Inspect using micrometers, gauges, and amps; document SPC data.

Job description

Our aerospace manufacturing client in Macomb County has an immediate opening for an OD Grinder. This is a DIRECT HIRE role, 2nd shift working 50-55 hours/week, $28-36/hour- easily make $90-100k+!

OD Grinder Responsibilities:

• Reads, interprets and follows blueprints, sketches, and product/engineering specifications
• Set up and and operate CNC OD and ID grind equipment with minimal supervision on a Studer grinding machine.
• Make adjustments as required to maintain print specifications
• Grind of spline shafts and aircraft gears holding tolerances of .0001" - .0005"
• Maintain proper documentation of SPC data and participate in certified operator program.
• Inspect faces and diameters using micrometers, gages and amps
• Perform in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges.
• Perform operator maintenance.
• Perform the required measurements to assure product quality
• Notify your Leader of all nonconforming product
• Other duties as assigned

OD Grinder Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude
• Working knowledge of Inspection Devices and Instruments
• Ability to translate prints along with understanding of GD&T
• Experience using Studer OD Grinder, FANUC controls using G code
• Experience with Cylindrical grinding machines
• Proficiency in the use of a wide variety of precision measuring tools are required.
• Ability to utilize visual comparator and Precision Gear Check Equipment
