Job summary

Plaza West Healthcare & Rehab in Topeka, Kansas seeks an dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to support licensed occupational therapists in delivering patient treatment plans in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

Under supervision you will conduct screens, assist with exercises, monitor progress, and help with documentation and family training. This role emphasizes patient safety, accurate record keeping and teamwork within a rehabilitation setting.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree from an AOTA accredited program.
• Licensed COTA if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Conduct resident screens (without interpretation) as allowed by state practice act.
• Help residents with rehabilitative activities and exercises outlined in a treatment plan developed in collaboration with an occupational therapist.
• Monitor an individual’s activities to make sure they are performed correctly and to provide encouragement.
• Record resident’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.
• May assist in scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, restocking or ordering depleted supplies, and filling out insurance forms or other paperwork.
• Provide training to residents, caregivers and families according to the resident’s care plan.
• Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.

Education
