Job summary

Recover-Care Heartland seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to assist in patient treatment under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist. You will support the treatment plan, help residents with exercises, and document progress in accordance with policies.

The role involves preparing residents, coordinating care with the OT, and ensuring compliance with privacy and regulatory guidelines. Training and documentation are emphasized in this position.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree from an AOTA-accredited program is required or preferred.
• Licensed COTA if required by state law might be required by your state.

Responsibilities

• Conducts resident screens (without interpretation) as allowed by state practice act.
• Helps residents with rehabilitative activities and exercises outlined in a treatment plan developed in collaboration with an occupational therapist.
• Monitors an individual’s activities to ensure correct performance and provide encouragement.
• Records resident’s progress for use by the occupational therapist.
• May assist in scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, restocking or ordering supplies, and filling out insurance forms or other paperwork.
• Provides training to residents, caregivers and families according to the resident’s care plan.
• Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
