Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support patient care under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This role emphasizes delivering quality therapy services and contributing to a patient-centered care plan in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.

The ideal candidate will hold an approved associate degree, be eligible for Ohio licensure, and possess CPR certification, with 1–2 years of hospital or rehab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Associate Degree program as a COTA and eligible for Ohio licensure.
• One to two years experience in a hospital or rehabilitation facility preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current FOM (Functional Outcome Measures) certification preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write and effectively communicate.
• Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and be insurable.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Director, provides occupational therapy services to patients following the plan of care established by an Occupational Therapist.
• Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, provides occupational therapy services, re-assessing the patient’s status on each visit, and ensuring quality of care as evidenced in the clinical record.
• Accurately administers standardized tests, treatment procedures and modalities as assigned by therapists. Implements the plan of care developed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Assists therapists in the development or modification of goals and objectives of patient care based upon assessment data.
• Implements appropriate treatment strategies, procedures, and modalities according to the plan of care set forth for each patient.
• Communicates patient progress, status, and response to therapy services to the supervising therapist, patient and/or family, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Provides for a safe, adequate and comfortable environment for the delivery of therapy services.
• Demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties.
