Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. You will work under an OT supervisor to help patients improve motor function and daily living activities, and educate caregivers on therapy strategies.

Experience in neurological injuries is preferred. A valid MI driver’s license is required for home care operations, with BLS certification due within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in an accredited therapy assistant program is required.
• Therapy assistance experience is preferred.
• Experience in neurological injury, TBI, and spinal cord injury is preferred.
• COTA NB-COT certification upon hire is required.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC is required within 90 days.
• Driver's license is required for Michigan home care operations.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provide occupational therapy services to improve basic motor functions and daily living activities.
• Assist patients and caregivers with education and rehabilitation tasks.
• Address cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction, and physical disability as part of therapy planning.

Under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist, provides occupational therapy services to patients/clients to assist in improving basic motor functions, reasoning abilities, compensating for permanent loss of function by teaching patients/clients to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. May provide treatment to patients/clients with cognitive impairment, psychosocial dysfunction and physical disability. Assists with patient/clients and caregiver education.

Standard Qualifications

• Required Associate's Degree accredited therapy assistant program
• Therapy assistance experience Preferred
• Experience in neurological injury, TBI, and Spinal Cord injury (based on Spectrum Health entity) Preferred
• CRT-Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified (COTA) - NB-COT National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Upon Hire required
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
• LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Home Care Business Lines
