Job summary

Total Care Therapy is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our growing Columbus-area team, supporting licensed OTs to deliver patient-centered care for older adults in assisted living and independent living communities.

In this role, you will help residents improve mobility, independence in daily activities, and safety through individualized plans, documentation in EMR, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current OTA license in the state.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under supervision.
• Promote independence in ADLs/IADLs and upper extremity function.
• Monitor progress and communicate changes to the OT.
• Complete documentation in an EMR system.
• Educate residents and caregivers on safety and independence.
• Collaborate with the OT and interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain a full clinical caseload with compassionate care.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our growing team. In this role, you will work alongside a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that helps residents improve mobility, increase strength, restore function, and maintain their independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to the established plan of care.
• Implement therapeutic activities and interventions that promote independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and cognitive skills.
• Assist residents in improving functional performance, safety, and independence through individualized treatment approaches.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Accurately complete documentation and treatment notes using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, home safety, fall prevention, and strategies to maximize independence.
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Maintain a full clinical caseload while providing compassionate, high-quality occupational therapy services.

Qualifications

• Current State Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) License
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
• Previous experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required
