Job summary

Total Care Therapy is seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our growing team in West Jefferson, Ohio. You will work alongside a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care focused on improving mobility, independence, and quality of life for older adults in assisted living settings.

Qualifications

• Current State Occupational Therapy Assistant license.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Geriatrics/home care experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Promote independence with ADLs, IADLs, upper extremity function, balance, and cognitive skills.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising OT.
• Complete documentation and treatment notes in an EMR system.
• Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, safety, and independence strategies.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist Assistant

(OTA) to join our growing team. In this role, you will work alongside a licensed

Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that helps residents improve mobility, increase strength, restore function, and maintain

their independence.

Responsibilities

Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to the established plan of care.

Implement therapeutic activities and interventions that promote independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and cognitive skills.

Assist residents in improving functional performance, safety, and independence through individualized treatment approaches.

Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

Accurately complete documentation and treatment notes using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, home safety, fall prevention, and strategies to maximize independence.

Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

Maintain a full clinical caseload while providing compassionate, high-quality occupational therapy services.

Qualifications

Current State Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) License

Current CPR/BLS Certification

Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance

Previous experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required
