Job summary

Total Care Therapy is hiring an Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) in the Cleveland area. You will work with a licensed OT to provide high-quality, patient-centered care aimed at improving mobility, independence, and quality of life for older adults in assisted and independent living communities.

Qualifications

• Active OTA license in Ohio.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled OTA treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and per the plan of care.
• Assist residents in activities of daily living, IADLs, and mobility to improve independence.
• Monitor progress and communicate changes to the supervising OT.
• Complete documentation in EMR accurately.
• Educate residents and caregivers on safety, ADLs, fall prevention, and home safety.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) to join our growing team. In this role, you will work alongside a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide high‑quality, patient‑centered care that helps residents improve mobility, increase strength, restore function, and maintain their independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and according to the established plan of care.
• Implement therapeutic activities and interventions that promote independence with activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), upper extremity function, coordination, strength, balance, and cognitive skills.
• Assist residents in improving functional performance, safety, and independence through individualized treatment approaches.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Accurately complete documentation and treatment notes using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Educate residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment, energy conservation techniques, home safety, fall prevention, and strategies to maximize independence.
• Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient‑centered care.
• Maintain a full clinical caseload while providing compassionate, high‑quality occupational therapy services.

Qualifications

• Current State Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) License
• Current CPR/BLS Certification
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
• Previous experience in geriatrics, home health, assisted living, or skilled nursing is preferred but not required
