Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital seeks an Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide care for patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial deficits, enabling independent living skills.

Under direct supervision, you will implement treatment plans, document progress, supervise therapy technicians, and oversee OTA students during rotations. Kentucky licensure and BLS certification within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• OTA license in Kentucky required on hire.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
• No prior work experience required.

Job Summary:

Provides treatment for patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Implements an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
• Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
• Seeks consultation as necessary.
• Monitors patient’s responses to the treatment plan.
• Regularly communicates patient progress and possible goal revisions to registered occupational therapist.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Assists with patient discharge planning.
• Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.
• Oversees the care provided by therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations, and OT practice standards.
• Supervises OTA students completing clinical rotations.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• OTA - Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND
• BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
