Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, KY is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients with physical, cognitive and psychosocial deficits affecting independent living.

You will design and implement the plan of care, supervise OTAs and students, educate patients and families, and assist with discharge planning while ensuring compliance with licensing and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • KY state Licensure as an Occupational Therapist is required upon hire.
  • BLs certification required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient ability to perform independent living skills.
  • Design and implement plan of care and frequency of treatment.
  • Document progress and modify plan as needed.
  • Educate patient and family about deficits and adaptive equipment.
  • Oversee OTAs and therapy technicians per licensing laws and standards.
  • Assist with discharge planning and transition to home or another setting.

Job Summary

Evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assesses patient 's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
  • Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
  • Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed.
  • Seeks consultation as necessary.
  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
  • Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Oversees the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and OT practice standards.
  • Supervises OT & OTA students completing clinical rotations.
Skills and Attributes

Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Position Requirements
  • Work Experience: No experience required upon hire.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy required upon hire.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: OT - Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position.
