Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Health System seeks an Occupational Therapist to treat patients under the occupational therapy plan of care and contribute to department development. The role reports to the Director of Physical Medicine and supports the team with direct patient care, goal setting, and adaptive equipment options.

Qualifications include a BS/MS/Doctorate in OT, NBCOT certification, and active Louisiana OT licensure, with ongoing CEU compliance and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Satisfactory completion of the NBCOT exam.
• Current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Louisiana.
• Must meet annual CEU requirements as stipulated by the State Board.
• CPR certification.
• Ability to communicate well with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
• Knowledge to care for the population age groups served.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the functional needs of the patient and sets appropriate goals.
• Provides direct patient care; evaluates outcomes; and consults with other specialists as needed.
• Provides vocational training as appropriate for patient's potential skill level.
• Provides patient/family with options for adaptive equipment.
• Oversees the care of all assigned patients and all care givers rendering such care.
• Promotes independence for Activities of Daily Living tasks.
