MercyOne Elkader Medical Center in Elkader, IA is seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist to join the PM&R department. The role supports a 25-bed critical access hospital, delivering occupational therapy across all patient ages, from infants to geriatrics, with day shift and per diem/ varied hours.

You will plan, administer, implement, and evaluate therapy services, collaborate with clinicians, and contribute to a compassionate, safe, patient-centered care environment.

Qualifications

• Must function as an occupational therapist across age groups (infant to geriatric) in evaluation and treatment.
• Ability to give clear instructions to individuals and groups.

MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, which provides a vital lifesaving link to rural communities in Clayton County and surrounding areas through ambulance and emergency services. MercyOne is committed to providing quality, personalized and safe health care close to home.

The emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board certified physicians and advanced level practitioners who are well-trained to treat emergency needs. MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is certified as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

As a Registered Occupational Therapist at MercyOne, you will plan, administer, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy for all appropriate programs and services within the PM&R department, for all patient age groups. Possesses the skills necessary to provide direct patient care specific to each age group is accordance with department protocol. The age of the patients served range in age from infants to geriatrics.

General Requirements

• Must be able to function as an occupational therapist in all commonly practiced aspects of patient evaluation and treatment appropriate for the assigned age group.
• Must have ability to give clear instructions to individuals and groups ranging from infant to geriatric.
• Must have ability to plan day-to-day activities and work independently.
• Must be able to put patients at ease and make them comfortable.
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other hospital employees and guests.

Education

• Registration through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc. (NCBOT)
• Bachelor’s Degree Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) by the State of Iowa to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
