Job summary

Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC is seeking an Occupational Therapist PRN to support patient care across the recovery journey. You will assess functional needs, design individualized plans, and deliver hands-on therapy with a patient-centered approach.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll document progress, educate patients and families, and contribute to safe transitions of care. The role offers growth within a community hospital setting and flexible PRN scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Required License: North Carolina license to practice Occupational Therapy.
  • Required Experience: None required; new graduate eligible.
  • Clinical affiliations in acute care are helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients' functional abilities and develop individualized therapy plans with the care team.
  • Deliver skilled, evidence-based interventions to promote healing and independence.
  • Monitor progress, adjust plans, and document outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients and families to build understanding and engagement in recovery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate needs, develop individualized care plans, and provide hands-on treatment that supports recovery through every stage of healing. Your role will include:

  • Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
  • Delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
  • Monitoring patient progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
  • Educating patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Leading by example—providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Preferred Education: None
  • Required License: Current North Carolina license to practice Occupational Therapy
  • Preferred License: None
  • Required Experience: None required – new graduate eligible
  • Preferred Experience: Clinical affiliations having a wide variety of acute care procedures, especially orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary and care of burns/open wounds are helpful.
