Job summary

Wayside Youth & Family Support Network seeks an Occupational Therapist to join the Milford team for a part-time role focused on delivering OT services to youth and families within our DMH IHBTC program.

The position emphasizes assessments, treatment planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support functional goals in home, school, and community settings. A Master’s in OT and MA licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and MA licensure (or eligible).
• Experience serving youth with significant mental health needs.
• Experience addressing functioning in home or community settings.
• Driving in the community is required; valid license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessments, treatment plan development, and direct intervention to youth seeking OT support within the IHBTC service.
• Collaborate with treatment teams to help set therapy goals and ensure these goals are met.
• Work with a diverse team to support a young adult and their families through treatment plan intervention, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
• Provide consultation for direct intervention focused on addressing functional goals of the client.
• Provide education and consult support to clinical staff, the young adults, and their families/caregivers.
• Provide home strategies and recommendations to families and in-home services if applicable.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST - PART-TIME

Community Services - Milford

Salary Range: $32,500.00 - $37,500.00/year (based on a 20-hour position) depending on experience + sign-on bonus (half paid after 6 months of employment and half paid after 1 year of employment/pro-rated for part-time).

Wayside is looking for an Occupational Therapist to work with our DMH IHBTC Team, which has been recognized across the state for their hard work and dedication to families. This is a part time position, based in our Milford Site. Wayside is seeking creative, flexible, energetic individuals to provide occupational therapy as part of our services, who are referred by the Department of Mental Health. Must be committed to family centered practice.

What You Will Do:

• Provide assessments, treatment plan development, and direct intervention to any youth who are seeking OT support within their IHBTC service.
• Collaborate with the treatment teams to help set therapy goals and ensure these goals are being met.
• Work collaboratively with a diverse team who provide their educational, professional and lived experience to support a young adult and their families through treatment plan intervention, safety planning and crisis intervention.
• Provide consultation for direct intervention that is focused on addressing the functional goals of the client.
• Provide education and consult support to clinical staff, the young adults, and their families/caregivers.
• Provide home strategies and recommendations to families as well as in home services if applicable.

• Ability to access safety in collaboration with team, to provide safety planning that incorporates effective OT interventions.

• Creativity to support program development to further integrate OT throughout our care.
• Experience in using clinical observations in assessment.
• Strong skills in psychoeducation and consultation. Ability to explain OT interventions to young adults, families and other providers.
• Ability to empower staff with various training levels to utilize occupational therapy strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Massachusetts licensure or are obtaining it prior to start date.
• Experience serving youth with significant mental health needs.
• Experience addressing functioning in the home setting or community setting.
• Experience working with diverse population of individuals.
• Driving in the community is a requirement of this position; please ensure you have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
