Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico is seeking an Occupational Therapist to work with patients on a range of rehabilitation interventions for physical and developmental disorders. The role is full time with a weekday schedule, Monday through Friday, in Rio Rancho, NM, and includes a sign-on/relocation consideration for qualified candidates.

You will evaluate and treat patients, coordinate care with multiple disciplines, and advocate for patient independence while navigating healthcare

Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practice.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Understanding of rules and regulations of the specific setting.
  • Less than one year experience in occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of function/occupation and developmental disorders.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles across the life span.
  • Oversees a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and environmental well-being of the patient.
  • Promotes patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve independence.
  • Coordinates and communicates with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
  • Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
  • Is a patient advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
