Job summary

Interim HealthCare Newport News is seeking a Home Health Occupational Therapist to deliver patient-centered OT services in patients' homes across Newport News and surrounding areas. You will be part of a supportive team focused on meaningful outcomes.

The role emphasizes 1:1 care, flexible assignments, and ongoing training. Candidates should have an accredited OT program graduate, Virginia OT license, CPR, and 2+ years in home health, with strong clinical judgement and compassionate approach.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OT license in Virginia.
• Minimum of 2 years of occupational therapy experience, ideally in home healthcare.
• CPR certification.
• Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
• Good clinical judgement, strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and compassionate.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy to patients unable to perform daily tasks due to an illness or injury.
• Work as part of a home health team focused on the patient’s plan of care and personal goals.
• Assess patient, observe deficits, establish therapy goals and document progress.
• Assist patient with exercises to improve fine motor skills and coordination.
• Suggest adaptive equipment such as grab bars and shower chairs to provide added support.
• Assess fall risks and introduce strategies to improve home safety.
• Educate patient and family on plan of care, exercises, goals and self-care.

As a Home Health OT, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:
