Job summary

Interim HealthCare in Colorado is seeking a Home Health Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients regain independence in their homes. You will deliver customized therapy, assess daily tasks, and support patients to return to the activities they love in familiar surroundings.

This part-time role offers per-visit pay between $75 and $150, with travel and mileage compensation; a 1:1 patient ratio; sick time for part-time staff; and continuing education benefits through Colorado Christian

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
  • Active OT license in the State of Colorado.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
  • Good clinical judgment and compassionate approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy to patients unable to perform daily tasks at home.
  • Work with a home health team to plan and execute the patient’s care goals.
  • Assess patients, observe deficits, and document progress.
  • Assist patients with exercises to improve fine motor skills and coordination.
  • Suggest adaptive equipment to improve home safety and independence.
  • Educate patients and families on plan of care and exercises.

As a Home Health Occupational Therapist (OT), here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

  • Provide occupational therapy to patients unable to perform daily tasks due to an illness or injury.
  • Work as part of a home health team which may include an RN, LPN, CNA, HHA, PT and SLP, focused on the patient’s plan of care and personal goals.
  • Assess patient, observe deficits, establish therapy goals and document progress.
  • Assist patient with exercises to improve fine motor skills and coordination.
  • Suggest adaptive equipment such as grab bars and shower chairs to offer added support.
  • Assess fall risks and introduce strategies to improve home safety.
  • Educate patient and family on plan of care, exercises, goals and self-care.

A few must-haves for Home Health Occupational Therapists:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program and active OT license in the State of Colorado.
  • Minimum of 1 year of occupational therapy experience, preferably in home healthcare.
  • CPR/BLS certification (must be a demonstration course).
  • Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
  • Good clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and compassionate.
