Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN seeks a Mental Health Occupational Therapist to apply current knowledge and sound clinical judgment in patient management. You will work with an interdisciplinary team to provide individualized care in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, including Psychiatric Acute Care, Medical and Geriatric Psychiatry, Mood Disorder, and child/adolescent units.

The role may involve training in Adult and Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Centers and the John E.

• Advocate for health, wellness and fitness and mentor therapy students and peers.
• Assist with program planning and education within mental health services.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients individually and in groups in inpatient units (Psychiatric Acute Care, Medical and Geriatric Psychiatry, Mood Disorder, Child/Adolescent and Family Treatment Unit).
• Collaborate with patient, family and other professionals to ensure efficient and effective care.
• Support weekend rotations for general acute rehabilitation services.

Therapists also serve as advocates and promoters of health, wellness, and fitness to all stakeholders. They serve as educators and mentors for therapy students, peers and other medical professionals. The occupational therapist assists with department and program planning.

The mental health occupational therapists also assist with program planning. The primary duty of this therapist will be working in both inpatient and outpatient settings with one of the largest psychiatric treatment groups in the United States. The therapist will treat patients both individually and in groups in the following inpatient units:Psychiatric Acute Care Unit, Medical and Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, Mood Disorder Unit, and the Child, and the Adolescent and Family Treatment Unit. Based on program needs, and staff desire, training may also occur in The Adult and Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Centers and the John E. Herman Home and Treatment Facility. Support for the general acute clients (physical disabilities) in St. Marys Hospital will occur during weekend rotations.
