Job summary

Cleveland Clinic in Ohio is hiring an Occupational Therapist to help patients improve daily living activities, mobility, and independence after injury, stroke, or surgery. You will evaluate, plan and implement treatment and educate patients and families while documenting progress and coordinating with the care team.

Hours vary Monday through Thursday with no weekend or holiday shifts. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree, graduation from an AOTA‑accredited OT program, current Ohio

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Graduate of an OT program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT).
  • BLS or Healthcare Provider Certification through AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial deficits affecting daily living.
  • Assess independence in self-care and plan care frequency and type of therapy.
  • Implement treatment plans and document patient progress.
  • Educate patients and families about deficits and care strategies.
  • Direct and supervise activities of support personnel.
  • Instruct or evaluate students as a clinical instructor.

Occupational Therapists provide many wide-ranging services to help patients improve their ability to perform normal activities of daily living. Whether from a physical injury, stroke, cognitive differences, surgery or general aging, your work as an OT helps maximize their confidence in performing self-care, working and managing life responsibilities.


A caregiver in this position works various hours from Monday to Thursday with no weekends or holidays required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:



  • Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

  • Assess patient ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.

  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.

  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

  • Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.

  • Act a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:


  • Experience in clinical area

  • Certification with Lymphedema


Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.

  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.

  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.

  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.

  • Visual acuity to observe patient’s gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.

  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.

  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient’s description of symptoms and response to treatment.


Personal Protective Equipment:


  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.


Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00


Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50
