Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge in Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatments.
• Ability to supervise and direct assistants and aides.
• Understanding of the principles of physical modalities used in Occupational Therapy.
• Knowledge of prosthetic and orthotic devices, ambulatory aids and assistive devices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work with all patient types.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in geriatric rehabilitation preferred.
• Experience in adult neurological, cardiac, and/or general rehabilitation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Aid in restoration and enhancement of independence for patients after illness or injury.
• Evaluate and treat patients and document services in the medical record.
• Supervise COTAs and/or aides in direct patient care per policy and state/federal requirements.
• Communicate with family, physicians, and health team members about progress.
• Develop treatment plans and obtain approvals from referring physicians.
• Document treatment charges and ensure billing consistency.
• Prepare for and participate in rehab team conferences and patient care conferences.
• Educate families and staff on follow-through programs.
• Ensure safe working practices and use of protective equipment.
