Job summary

River Valley Healthcare is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide direct patient care within the therapy department. You will evaluate and treat patients, develop treatment plans, and document outcomes to support outstanding care results.

You will supervise assistants, coordinate with families, physicians and the health team, and contribute to professional development and interdisciplinary collaboration within the facility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in Occupational Therapy evaluation and treatments.
• Ability to supervise and direct assistants and aides.
• Understanding of physical modalities in Occupational Therapy.
• Knowledge of prosthetic and orthotic devices and ambulatory aids.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work with diverse patient populations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Aids in restoration of independent function and treats patients, documenting in medical records.
• Develops treatment plans and obtains physician approvals.
• Supervises assistants and aides in direct patient care.
• Communicates patient progress and plans with supervisor and health team.
• Educates families and nursing staff on follow‑through programs.
• Interviews patients and families about functioning and expectations.
• Identifies resources for problem-solving and best practice.
• Assesses and issues ADL equipment to facilitate independence.
• Documents thoroughly for regulatory and billing purposes.
• Contributes to professional development and rehab team conferences.
