Overview: The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, observes patient progress, recommends changes in treatment plans based on patient responses, and educates patients about the purpose and expected effects of treatments. The OTA documents progress notes in medical records, maintains departmental records, and complies with regulatory agencies. They demonstrate awareness of safety issues, indications and contraindications of treatments, patient privacy, and confidentiality. The OTA provides support within the department and the community for educational purposes.

Qualifications:

1. Age of Patients Served: All age groups
2. Required Education: Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education and the American Occupational Therapy Association.
3. Necessary Skills: Knowledge and skills in a broad range of Occupational Therapy services and settings; strong communication skills; basic splinting skills; proficiency in using computers and common programs such as Word and Excel.
4. Required Licensure/Certification: Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant in Florida.
5. Required Experience: Less than one year of clinical experience in acute care or skilled nursing facilities.
6. Preferred Experience: Experience in acute care, skilled nursing, wound care, or outpatient settings.
