Job description

Overview

The Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, observes patient progress, recommends changes in the treatment plan based on the patient's response, and educates the patient on the purpose of the treatment and expected results. The OTA documents progress notes in the medical record, maintains departmental records, and complies with regulatory agencies. The OTA demonstrates awareness of safety issues, indications and contraindications of treatment, patient privacy, and confidentiality. Additionally, the OTA provides support within the department as needed and participates in community education initiatives.

Qualifications

1. Age of Patients Served: All age groups
2. Required Education: Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education, in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
3. Necessary Skills:
   1. Knowledge and skill in a broad range of Occupational Therapy services and settings.
   2. Strong communication skills.
   3. Basic splinting skills.
   4. Proficiency in using computers and common programs such as Word and Excel.
4. Required Licensure/Certification: Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant in the state of Florida.
5. Required Experience: Less than one year of clinical experience in an acute care facility and/or skilled nursing facility.
6. Preferred Experience: Experience in acute care settings, skilled nursing units, wound care, outpatient settings.
