Job summary

North Kansas City Hospital is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for a PRN, weekends/holidays schedule. The role involves direct patient care under an occupational therapist, documentation, and family education, in a fast-paced ARU setting.

Join a capable team and contribute to high‑quality rehabilitation services. Qualified candidates will have OTA education, state licensure or eligibility, and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Holds an OTA degree from an accredited program.
• State license or eligibility to practice as a COTA where services are rendered.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Document patient progress and communicate updates to the OT team.
• Educate patients' families or staff on follow‑through exercises.
• Assist with scheduling and post‑treatment documentation.

More about our team: North Kansas City Hospital is48‑bed Acute Rehab Unit (ARU) located in NKC Health Main Hospital Building. Our Unit is a very fast paced yet fun environment with endless opportunities to learn and grow! We have an amazing team with over 25 FT therapists!

What you will do in this role

• The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of an occupational therapist, assisting with therapeutic interventions and documentation while supporting quality and compliance standards in rehabilitation services.

• Communicate patient progress or concerns to the supervising occupational therapist and interdisciplinary team.
• Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in follow‑through programs and home exercises.
• Assist with patient scheduling and post‑treatment charges to patient records daily.
• Document patient care accurately and in accordance with all regulatory, licensing, payer, and accrediting requirements.
• Maintain treatment equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Ensure compliance with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, Corporate Compliance Agreement, and applicable laws and professional standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program
• License: Licensed and eligible to practice as a COTA in the state where services are rendered.
• Certifications: CPR certification required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills
