The Occupational Therapy Assistant in Home Health is responsible for providing occupational therapy to patients in their homes to restore them to their fullest physical ability. The Occupational Therapy Assistant performs duties in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established plan of care.

Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA, OTA) in Home Health is responsible for providing occupational therapy to patients in their homes to restore their physical abilities. Duties are performed according to policies, procedures, and the plan of care set by the supervising OT.

• Follow all state-specific laws governing occupational therapy in home care, adhering strictly to the treatment plan defined by the supervising OT.
• Instruct and assist patients in evidence-based treatments within the scope of practice for occupational therapy assistants and in accordance with state laws.
• Observe, document, and report patient responses to treatment and any changes in condition to the supervising OT, nurse, or physician, and coordinate care with the healthcare team as needed.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members on therapy-related topics within the scope of the occupational therapy assistant.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current OTA licensure in the state of FL
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle
