Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking an Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients, develop individualized plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. You will educate families, document progress, and participate in ongoing professional development.

The role requires a Master's in OT, Illinois state licensure, and CPR/BLS certification, with opportunities to teach and supervise students within the department.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current Illinois License to practice as an Occupational Therapist.
• Current CPR or BLS certification from recognized provider.
• Develop professional skills via development plans and continuing education.
• Understanding of growth and development across infant to geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, assesses, and plans treatment including orienting patient and significant others to OT evaluation and treatment.
• Evaluates patient impairments, disability and handicap appropriate to diagnosis, life roles, age development, functional status, and medical condition.
• Facilitates patient participation in therapy and collaborates with others to achieve outcomes.
• Identifies areas where abilities and impairments affect function to establish goals with patient and family.
• Implements treatment plans including activity selection, transfers, and positioning.
• Participates in patient care conferences to coordinate treatment and educate patient and family.
• Documents patient care activities following department protocols.
• May supervise affiliated OT students.
• May teach in Department and Education and Training courses.
• Performs other duties in best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
