Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is seeking an Occupational Therapist for an acute care role on-site. You will evaluate patients, develop individualized plans, and deliver hands-on therapy in collaboration with physicians and the care team.

You will monitor progress, document outcomes, and educate patients and families to promote recovery. The role offers opportunities for growth within a patient-centered, value-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • Texas OT license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in OT required; Master’s preferred.
  • ACUTE care experience preferred; new grads considered.
  • BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and develop therapy plans with care team.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to promote healing and independence.
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans; ensure timely documentation.
  • Educate patients and families to support recovery and engagement.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Lead and mentor therapy assistants or students and uphold organizational values.

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate needs, develop individualized care plans, and provide hands‑on treatment that supports recovery through every stage of healing. Your role will include:
  • Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
  • Delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
  • Monitoring patient progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
  • Educating patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Leading by example—providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (OT) Occupational Therapist licensed in the state of Texas is required
  • A min of a Bachelors Degree from an OT program is required, Masters Degree preferred
  • Experience in acute care preferred, new grads will be considered
  • Must be able to work weekdays with rotating weekends and occasional holidays
