Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West seeks a compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our rehab team in Houston. You will evaluate patients, develop individualized therapy plans, and provide hands-on interventions to restore independence and quality of life.

Working in collaboration with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you’ll monitor progress, document outcomes, educate families, and support safe transitions of care while contributing to a culture of excellence and compassionate

Qualifications

• Licensed OT in Texas required.
• CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
• Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy required; master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' functional abilities and develop individualized therapy plans with the care team.
• Deliver evidence‑based interventions to promote healing and independence.
• Monitor progress, adjust plans, and document outcomes.
• Educate patients and families to support understanding and engagement.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners to ensure safe transitions of care.

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate needs, develop individualized care plans, and provide hands‑on treatment that supports recovery through every stage of healing. Your role will include:

• Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team.
• Delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care.
• Monitoring patient progress, adjusting plans as needed, and ensuring thorough, timely documentation that reflects quality outcomes.
• Educating patients and families to build understanding, confidence, and engagement throughout recovery and beyond.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary partners to ensure seamless transitions of care, safe environments, and exceptional patient experiences.
• Leading by example—providing guidance to therapy assistants or students and upholding HCA Healthcare’s mission, values, and commitment to excellence.

What qualifications you will need:

• (OT) Occupational Therapist licensed in the state of Texas
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR, or CPR for Healthcare Providers, or Heart Saver CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• A minimum of a Bachelors degree in occupational therapy is required, Masters preferred
• Experience in a rehab setting preferred, new grads will be considered
• Must be able to work weekdays with rotating weekends and occasional holidays
