Job summary

Sentara Health in Virginia Beach seeks a licensed Occupational Therapist to assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that enhance mobility and independence. The role focuses on educating patients and families, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy with NBCOT certification and state licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Doctorate in Occupational Therapy preferred (per state licensure).

Responsibilities

• Educates patients and caregivers; supervises care provided by team members.
• Performs modalities and therapeutic interventions per Standards of Care and department policies.
• Provides instruction to patient and family through standardized programs and individualized training; collaborates with internal and external team members to improve outcomes.
• Maintains productivity and efficiency in daily operations.

Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve functional mobility, relieve pain, improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury and help build or restore vocational/ daily living skills as well as general independence.

• Must possess State License and NBCOT Certification.

Experience

• Provides age-appropriate education for clients and caregivers. Supervise and assume responsibility for care provided by identified team members.
• Performs modalities/therapeutic interventions in accordance with accepted standards of care and department policies and procedures.
• Provides effective instruction to the patient and family through standardized educational programs and/or individualized training. Initiate, develop, and maintain collaborative interactions with internal and external team members, patients, and family members to improve patient outcomes.
• Productive and efficient in daily operations.
